World Tai Chi Qigong Day has been observed around the globe since 1999. Restita DeJesus has held yearly free events in the Puget Sound area since then. For the past 11 years it has held it at the Seattle Chinese Garden.  This beautiful serene setting has been the most requested venue. After the practice, feel free to roam the gardens.

This is a free event, however donations to the Garden are much welcomed. Donations to the Seattle Chinese Garden can be made on site or by going to the website at https://www.seattlechinesegarden.org/

World Tai Chi and Qigong Day's stated goals are to:

  1. Educate the world about emerging medical research revealing health benefits that t'ai chi ch'uan and qigong offer.

  2. Educate about the increasing use of these ancient traditional Chinese medicine modalities in business, healthcare, education, penal and drug rehabilitation.

  3. Provide a global vision of cooperation for health & healing purposes across geopolitical boundaries, and also an appeal to people worldwide to embrace wisdom from all the cultures of the world.

  4. Thank the Chinese culture for the gifts of tai chi and qigong to the world.

Metropolitan Fashion Week- August 28

The Seattle Chinese Garden is honored to be hosting the Metropolitan Fashion Week this year. There will be two shows in total, an early evening show at 5pm and a late evening show that begins at 7pm.

We encourage participants to follow a dress code of summer chic. Ladies, flaunt those cocktail dresses, and wear your favorite hat or fascinator & parasol. Gentlemen, semi-formal jackets or sport jackets with nice jeans or dress pants is excellent.
