Help the Garden

Seattle Chinese Garden volunteers work with plants, help in our office and assist with programs and events. Our Docents and Garden Guides are trained volunteers who lead tours and give presentations about the Seattle Chinese Garden at South Seattle Community College. Docent or Garden Guide training generally begins in the winter and continues through the spring of each year. Training covers Chinese philosophy, literature, horticulture, history and art, as each subject relates to Chinese gardens. Docents are trained in public speaking and in the history of the Garden project in Seattle. Training also includes visits to the Portland Chinese Garden and the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
