Docent Tours

Every Wednesday at 1:30 pm beginning September 1st.

Every Friday and Saturday at 10 am beginning September 3rd.

If you have questions, or want to arrange a tour for an organization or group of ten or more, please call the SCG office at 206-764-5219.

The tour begins in one of the horticulture classrooms at South Seattle Community College. The tour group will see a fascinating slide presentation narrated by one of our garden experts that explains many things about Chinese gardens in general, including what kind of plants are used, the history of some of those plants, and the differences between a Chinese garden and a Japanese garden. That presentation lasts approximately 45 minutes.

From there, tour groups will head out with one of our guides and be given a tour of the garden under construction. This will be an exciting time to tour the Chinese Garden as we will have artisans from

China

helping to construct Knowing the Spring Courtyard. Our garden is also adjacent to the South Seattle Community Colleges botanical gardens which you are welcome to walk through after our tour is completed.
